Information on the establishment
Fujimi International Early Childhood Education Research Center
（令和５年４月１日開設）
近年、日本の幼児教育は、国内外の社会情勢の変化に伴い大きく変わろうとしています。板橋富士見幼稚園は、ここ１０年間で外国籍の幼児をはじめ、多文化的背景をもつ幼児を多く受け入れて参りました。様々な国の生活・言語・文化を紹介する中で、多文化教育についてこれから模索していく必要があります。
日本固有の教育を大切にしながらも、多文化教育を通して１人１人の子供が自分達の文化を認め合い、誇りに思える保育を展開し、質の保証に向けた幼児教育の実現のため、国際幼児教育リサーチセンターを設置することと致しました。諸外国と幼児教育ネットワークを活用し、国際教育研修をはじめ、諸外国の幼児教育者との交流を図る中で多く情報を共有し、本園の教育に寄与していくことを目的としています。
現在、日本での幼児教育に関する世界情報は、ＯＥＣＤで発信しているデータに基づくことが多く、教育者の視察による情報は限られています。開設の初段階的アプローチとして、アメリカ合衆国と日本との幼児期教育の交流を柱にし、また、現在入園している日本語を習得中の子どもにとって速習できる道を拓き、多文化に対応した幼児教育を進めて参ります。現在、その橋渡しとして、安見瑞季先生が、サンフランシスコ州立大学附属幼稚園及び現在勤めている州立ハワイ大学附属幼稚園の保育について、情報を共有しながら多文化教育に取組んで参ります。
In recent years, Japanese Early Childhood Education (ECE) has been developing due to social and economic changes both inside and outside of Japan. Itabashi Fujiki Kindergarten has accepted children who have different cultural backgrounds over the past ten years which reminds us of the importance of inclusive education and multicultural education to improve our awareness of equity and diversity.
While we value Japanese traditional education, we also believe that it is important to develop global and multicultural education to provide an equal opportunity for all children to identify themselves and respect each other. To aim for the quality of education, we established the International Early Childhood Education Research Center in Spring 2023.
Our mission is to collect data from all over the world to enhance the current body of knowledge relevant to all aspects of early childhood education and development by utilizing our ECE connection/network and conducting educational inspections and training in different countries. The data and information that we receive are based on research by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The data and practical teaching strategies/approaches by teachers’ inspections and observation are limited.
As a first approach to this establishment, we would like to introduce Ms. Mizuki Yasumi as a lead teacher of this center, who has been working at preschools in Japan, San Francisco, and Hawaii while receiving academic degrees. She will share some resources and ECE data through the Fujimi International Early Childhood Education Research Center (IECERC) with us. We will promise to provide high quality education to all children with inclusive and culturally responsive perspectives and share learning strategies for multilingual children at Itabashi Fujimi Kindergarten.
